Carol Lane Joins Ball Aerospace to Lead Government Affairs

Legislative veteran and aerospace executive, Carol Lane, was recently hired by Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. as vice president of its Washington, D.C., office. In her new role, Lane will direct congressional affairs for the company and represent Ball Aerospace to federal government departments and agencies. She reports to Ball Aerospace President and Chief Executive Officer David L. Taylor.

Prior to joining Ball Aerospace, she worked as vice president of business development for AAC Associates Inc., a Virginia-based information technology provider. Lane also led several business development organizations at Lockheed Martin Corporation, including programs to develop civil and military satellite and launch systems.

Lane began her career as the legislative assistant for Sen. Harrison Schmitt (R-N.M.) and later became staff director of the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space. Lane's government experience also included her appointment of Director of the Office of Commercial Space Transportation within the U.S. Department of Transportation. While serving as director, she presided over the first licensed commercial launch in the U.S. and created the regulatory framework for government and industry risk allocation for insuring satellite launches.

Lane holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
